Kahoot This is an online website that teachers can use to design their own quiz and students can take the quiz all at once on an iPad, tablet, or computer. Each question can be supported with images, colors, and every single one is timed to speed up the process and avoid copying. It tells the overall class outcome by percentage after every questions and even ranks the students on who was fastest to choosing the correct answer. Teachers are able to check student understanding before and after lessons when giving these quizzes and they can really personalize them. Teachers tend to enjoy this program because it's fast, easy, and really engaging for the students as teachers can analyze faster results. ELL students benefit from the program because it's a way of testing their knowledge beyond just reading multiple choice tests and circling answers, which usually lack images, simplicity, and fun. We as teachers need to set up lessons where students value the content presented to remember it," and Kahoot is a great motivator (Zwiers 2010, Chp 6).
I've seen this program used in my classroom and students are jumping with joy and excitement to use the program and to see the results each time. Examples of test created are ones that quiz students on traits and body parts of insects or on historical figures and what they did to make an impact. |
